David and I went today to tour Mount Sinai health systems. You might remember it as Mount Sinai hospital but it way more than that now. Karen Teitelbaum is the CEO and she spent a fair bit of time with us explaining her vision. Here is an institution that operates literally on a shoe string yet strives to make anyone who walks in their door feel welcome, safe and healthy. They are very much about life style and how it affects the health not only of the individual but the community as well. Even though they no longer serve the Jewish community, their mission remains the same. It is about tikkun olam.
There is a picture of David and me in front of the Olin-Sang building that houses the NICU among other departments. Surprisingly there is no indication on the building at all that it is the Olin Sang building yet everyone knows it as such.
